About the LEED® menus and links

This directory of articles, products, and case studies is based on the credits and prerequisites of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Rating System for commercial buildings. "LEED," for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design," is a system that recognizes the environmental performance of buildings at four levels: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

To support the efforts of designers using LEED, BuildingGreen's editorial staff have identified articles relating to the various LEED credits and GreenSpec products that may contribute to achieving the credits. Note that use of these products is by no means a guarantee of getting the credit, and the U.S. Green Building Council is the only organization with the authority to award credits for a project. Also included on these menus are case studies of LEED-certified projects that have achieved one or more points within the selected credit.

BuildingGreen staff are participating as volunteers in the development and implementation of this rating system, so we are quite familiar with it. But it is entirely possible that USGBC staff and its contractors responsible for implementing LEED may interpret the credits differently, and that products we have identified might not qualify. If you notice any such discrepancy, please let us know by using the "send BG feedback" link in the footer of this or any other page.
